droiddoc now supports apicheck. java_sdk_library uses it to
automatically perform apichecks against the not-yet-release API and
the latest-released API.
A module type prebuilt_apis is added. It finds api txt files and creates
filegroup modules so that it can be referenced from java_sdk_library
across the module boundary.

New property api_srcs is added to java_sdk_library. The property is used
to specify set of source files that will be part of the API but not part
of the runtime library. Currently, this is only for the legacy http
library (org.apache.http.legacy) where some framework classes (such as
android.net.SslError which are compiled into framework.jar) are
registered as its API for historical reason.

prebuilt_etc_xml installs an xml file to <partition>/etc[/<subdir>] and
validates the xml file against the given DTD file before installing it.
This change also includes some fixes for prebuilt_etc which is the super
module of prebuilt_etc_xml:
1) The module is changed to arch-specific module as the prebuilts are only
for devices (installed under the etc dir), but not for hosts.
2) Dependency to android.Prebuilt is removed because android.Prebuilt is
intended to be used for the case when a module can exist as prebuilts,
source or both. These prebuilt_etc_* modules are prebuilt only.
3) srcs property which accepts a list of source files is changed to src
that only accepts single source file, which makes more sense for
prebuilts.

When compiling against without customized doclet, Javadoc doesn't need
to depend on Doclava and Jsilver jars. Originally, we leave these two
jars empty in Args so that CommandDeps won't have these two
dependencies. But Ninja doesn't like that with errors:

because $Jsilver and $Doclava is undefined when compiling Javadoc.

This change fixes several problems found while re-defining some libs
using java_sdk_library module type.
1) A phony module whose name is the same as the java_sdk_library name is
defined. It is used to support installing the runtime library via
PRODUCT_PACKAGES (even when there is no dependency from other modules).
2) A bug that package names whose depth is >= 2 is ignored in
droiddoc.srcs_lib_whitelist_pkgs is fixed. A package name foo.bar.baz is
now converted to a path foo/bar/baz following the Java convention.
3) A make variable JAVA_SDK_LIBRARIES that is the list of java_sdk_library
module names is exported to make. This can be used to distinguish SDK
libraries from ordinary libs.
4) When running doclava, some framework sources in the 'android' package
and the same packages as the SDK library are automatically added to the
sources list. This is required for the case when API class is extending
from the framework class. In that case, doclava needs to know whether
the base class is hidde nor not. Since that visibility info is encoded
as @hide string in the comment, we need source files for the classes,
not the compiled ones. Also there are rare cases where part of SDK
library is implemented in the framework (e.g. org.apache.http.legacy).
In that case, we need framework source to make API stubs, though the
sources are not required to build the runtime library.
5) The stubs libs are disabled for PDK builds as well.

java_sdk_library is to make a Java library that implements optional
SDK APIs to apps. It is actually a wrapper for several modules: 1) stubs
library that clients are linked against to, 2) droiddoc module that
internally generates API stubs source files, 3) the real runtime shared
library that implements the API, and 4) XML file for adding the runtime
lib to the classpath at runtime if requested via <uses-library>.
Note: this is only the initial CL for the feature. Followings are features
currently missing and under development.

2) install stubs libs as the dist artifacts
3) ensuring that apps have appropriate <uses-library> tag

With this, a Java module can't depend on another Java module built with

The AIDL code generator can now include trace code in every generated
AIDL call. We don't want to enable this by default for all interfaces
for two reasons:
1) Potential performance overhead
2) For Java targets, the code depends on @hide APIs in android.os.Trace,
and I haven't found a clean way to determine whether a target is
allowed to use @hide stuff in the SDK. LOCAL_PRIVATE_PLATFORM_APIS
is almost it, but it's not set for the core framework (which is
exactly one of the things we'd like to trace).

javadoc expects directories on the sourcepath, not jar files.

in 2009 was already passing the jar files, and every revision
since then seems to have kept this habit through cargo cult.

sourcepath argument to javadoc.

When there is a prebuilt java lib defined and there is a java library
with the same name, the reverse dependency from the java lib to the
prebuilt lib is added. However, the java library didn't recognize the
dependency type and causes error. Fixing the problem by not panicking on
such dependency.

Added new CompilerProperty flag, rename_kotlin_stdlib, which
allow to build kotlin libraries/binaries that use platform internal
version of kotlin stdlib (com.android.kotlin.*). This way, app-provided
kotlin standard library won't collide with version used internaly.
+ remove kotlinc-build.xml after compilation so it won't end up in the
result jar file
+ remove *.kotlin_module and *.kotlin_bultin filesfrom result jar file.
These files are needed only by kotlin-reflect library and
need more work to support kotlin-stdlib renaming.

extract_srcjars.sh uses zipinfo and unzip, which fail with an
error on an empty zip file. Instead of trying to hack around
this (which is hard to make guarantees for since they are
non-hermetic host tools), replace them with a go tool to unzip
a set of zip files into a directory.

api-stubs, system-api-stubs and etc need generated sources and srcjars from "framework",
so add a property that tell module to fetch srcs and srcjars from its
dependency libraries. The libraries in that property has to be in the
module's classpath.

GlobFiles had allowed results to be anywhere in the source tree,
restrict it to results within the current module directory.
Then use it for ExpandSources and other places where we only want files.
This fixes using '*' in cc_test's `data` property, which can only
support files.
The only thing this changes today is that java_resource_dirs and
java_resources no longer pass directories to soong_zip's -f argument.
core-libart previously added some icu directories, now it only passes
files.

We prefer not to use absolute paths in modules, but to reference modules
that have associated paths. This a few benefits:
* it's easier to move a module than to update all the references
* if the module doesn't exist, we treat it as a normal missing
dependency, not having to deal with the missing dependency in path.go
* implementing visibility(etc) in the future would be simpler if there
was a module attached to the reference, so we don't have to do various
path-based lookups to try and match things up.
So define a `droiddoc_template` module, which takes a path, and will run
the glob once in that module. All of the `droiddoc` modules can then
specify it through the `custom_template` property, which will pull the
necessary data.
Also fix that htmldirs should be references from the local path, the
htmldir2 argument never being specified, and complain if more than two
htmldirs are specified, or if the custom template isn't specified.

Historically, we've always passed '-I .' as the first argument to
protoc, essentially treating all proto file package names as their full
path in the android source tree. This would make sense in a monorepo
world, but it makes less sense when we're pulling in external projects
with established package names.
So keep the same default (for now), but allow individual builds to opt
into using local paths as the default names with
'canonical_path_from_root: false'. A cleanup effort and/or large scale
change in the future could change the default to false.
As part of this, run protoc once per input proto file, since the flags
may need to change per-file. We'll also need this in order to specify
--dependency_out in the future.

Support Droiddoc to Soong based on core/droiddoc.mk. The non-std doclet
based droiddoc compilation output is a "real" stubs.jar instead of a
directory of java files and a timestamp file.
The std doclet based javadoc compilation output is a "empty" stubs.jar
instead of a timestamp file.
The stubs.jar will be exported to
out/target/common/obj/JAVA_LIBRARIES/$(LOCAL_MODULE)_intermediates/classes.jar
and out/target/common/docs/$(LOCAL_MODULE)-stubs.jar
A $(LOCAL_MODULE).zip file will be generated also, and is exported to
out/target/common/docs/$(LOCAL_MODULE)-docs.zip if property: installable is not set
to false.

Sometime the size of our command line passed to soong_zip go program
exceeds the cmdline size limit. So add an RespFile support with "@" special
character prefix.
The args in the cmdline will be considered together with the
args in RespFile during soong_zip running.
Test: real tests in my local machine, and compare the
res/libphonenumber.jar before and after changes.

The module name of system_$(VER) prebuilt file is system_sdk_v$(VER).
But this is inconsistent with sdk_v$(LOCAL_SDK_VERSION) in

core_current is a pseudo SDK version which is a core Java API subset of
the Android API. It is expected to be mainly used for external Java
projects which are agnostic to Android; such as junit, guava, etc.
A module built with this SDK version can only link to java modules of
the same kind. It can't depend on modules built with other sdk (e.g.
current) or without sdk.

PLATFORM_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS is the list of System SDK versions that the
platform is supporting. Contrary to the public SDK where platform
essentially supports all previous SDK versions, platform support only a
few recent System SDK versions, since some of old System APIs are
gradually deprecated, removed from the following SDKs and then finally
deleted from the platform. This will be part of the framework manifest.
The list can be specified by setting PLATFORM_SYSTEMSDK_MIN_VERSION. If
it is set to an old version number, then System SDKs from the version
to the current version (PLATFORM_SDK_VERSION) are considered to be
supported by the platform. If PLATFORM_SYSTEMSDK_MIN_VERSION is not set,
only the latest System SDK version is supported.
Next, BOARD_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS is the list of System SDK versions that
the device is using. This is put to the device compatibility matrix
device is using. The device and the platform is considered as compatible
only BOARD_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS in the device compatibility matrix are
in the PLATFORM_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS in the framework manifest.
When BOARD_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS is set, a Java app or library in vendor or
odm partitions which didn't specify LOCAL_SDK_VERSION is forced to use
System SDK. Also, the build system does the additional integrity check
to ensure that LOCAL_SDK_VERSION is within BOARD_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS or
PLATFORM_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS (if BOARD_SYSTEMSDK_VERSIONS isn't set).

Combining static jars from dependencies may bring in module-info.class
files, which don't make sense once multiple modules have been combined,
